Let’s talk about team and creating a successful team. I don’t know if you guys know this. I love, love, love, love, love team. Team Is my favorite.
Some would say it’s an asset in your business and it absolutely is an asset in your business.
But I also believe that team is a way of being. It’s a way of thinking. It’s a way of doing business and it’s an energy that really helps build. One of the things to think about is sometimes people are like “I don’t know who to hire first. I don’t know what to do.”
What Creating a Successful Team Can Do for You
We’ve been talking about all things team all month, cause this is kind of where we are with our theme. But one of the things to think about is how the assets grow as you invest.
I’m going to share a really great example. You might’ve seen the beautiful graphic that let you know about today’s Facebook live. I have a team member that is doing quick business resolutions. It’s a VA company that I hire. I should give them a shout out. They’re the ones that are helping me with the graphics and all of this stuff.
Now here’s the thing. It’s not just that it helps out today, but a lot of these assets that I’m paying to have created can be used over and over and over again. Items or graphics that can be tweaked and tailored or at least the work that’s being done. So much of that build over time and I can reuse them in other places.
Another thing I started doing is as I do these Facebook lives, we are now transcribing them using Searchie. I love my Searchie! And then it becomes a blog post. So then it can help my SEO. I have another team member who works on creating the posts using the Searchie audio transcribing.
So now when I look at the investment that I make in these people, the investment that I make in what they’re doing, it’s providing so much more exponential value to my business.
You’ll start to see the return on investment. You may not see it right away, but let’s say for example, my team member, who’s doing all of the transcriptions and creating the blog posts, she downloads this video at some point today, and then she will go in and she will upload it into Searchie grabbed the transcriptions and then she makes it pretty. This in turn helps the SEO. And that helps my website get out there as articles.
People might start to find my site. Then they may start to search for key things to them within my site and then it’ll start help growing my community, and growing my business, and growing my clients.
So that’s an asset that will start building over time. And so that’s one of the things that you can look at as how your team is really helping you, how they’re helping you grow and how it affects this long-term build of your business.
But I hear you asking me a question, “But Meredith, how do I know? How do I know if it’s worth it?”
Well, I’ll tell you one thing. So there’s the return on investment financially. That’s one thing that you want to look at. How do you feel when you’re outsourcing? How do you feel when it’s something that you don’t have to do on your list?
The Zone of Suckiness
Inside our membership lately, we’ve been talking about our zone of suckiness. So there may be those activities that you have that are in your zone of suckiness, and then you get to your computer and you’re like, “I hate doing this and I don’t feel like it.”
When it comes to making graphics, that’s not my area and to figure out what I’m going to do on my Facebook lives.
I don’t know if you guys know this, but I’m really good at just kind of somebody giving me a topic and I can just share on it and feel really comfortable, especially if it’s in my categories that I’m talking about. So I love the fact that I just show up on Friday and I talk and teach on a given topic.
I have outsourced the process, I have a meeting with my social media person. I go over the topics. She understands the voice. I go over all these things and then I just get to show up. And so I take the planning that my ADHD, executive function brain, isn’t so great at. And I’ve built a system to meet with her. That in and of itself is worth not having to focus on that zone of suckiness.
Nobody wants to do the things in your zone of suckiness. So, especially when you spend a day like hitting your head against your computer, because you’re up against something that doesn’t work for you. Energetically, the value of having your team take care of those activities is huge. It’s the same thing with having somebody transcribe and deal with all of this stuff.
Hire Team to Help With Your Weaknesses
Guys, I’ve got reading and spelling disabilities. So to do those things that deal with staring at the words, and making the formats and trying to translate my language into English is overwhelming. I’m personally not going to see the spelling errors. It’s not in my zone of genius. Where coaching is in my zone of genius.
So having the energetic value as well in terms of your return on investment is priceless. I don’t have to do the things on any given day that make me growly. I get to spend all of my time in the things that bring me joy, in the things that make me happy, in my zone of genius inside my zone of excellence. That is worth so much, even if it’s $450 a month or $600 a month or whatever the price point is to take out the things that keep you angry and frustrated.
Tech Help
Outsourcing your tech can be very helpful just in case you didn’t know this, we’re building websites. I was actually almost late to my Facebook live because I’m building one for my dad. I’m so excited because he is a 77 year old, starting a new business. You too can do that, but he doesn’t have the skills to build a website and he’s not going to learn them. He’s going to outsource them. So that’s why the team is so helpful.
I don’t know CSS, but I have a Scottie on my team who does all the CSS on our websites and the websites that we build because he’s spent the time to learn it. It’s in his zone of genius zone of excellence. The things that he’s good at, I watched him do some of it earlier today, trying to figure out on one of our client’s sites. I’m like, “Why can’t we make this, do this?” And he’s like, “Oh, it’s right here in the thing.” And I’m like, “I don’t know how to do that.”
I can do basic website builds. When you think about the energetic asset and living in your seven essences and living in the areas that you love, it provides so much bang for your energetic buck. It’s not always about the financial return on investment. Remember the energetic return on the investment as well.
Also the idea of having a team outsource something. So you can spend your time where your time matters most. Whether it’s in the creative side of your business and the strategic side of your business, wherever your zone of genius is, or whether it’s outside your business. Being able to go at two o’clock or 2:30 every day to pick up your kids, even if they don’t need you to be there.
Whatever those things that are important to you, outsourcing is that asset. It’s that thing that provides it for your business. This week inside of our membership, we’re also talking about some of those things in your life that you could consider outsourcing and bringing on team those upgrades that make your, again, free up the space.
Daily Tasks to Outsource
If you’ve known me or watched me for any time whatsoever, you guys know that the dishes are the bane of my existence. And so we’re getting a cleaning person and hopefully she’ll cover the dishes. It’s that type of thing or changing the sheets or doing the laundry. That’s a great thing to outsource.
The other thing we’re thinking about, and we’ve been talking, one of my members was talking about the other day, like the ideas of the blue aprons and the hello fresh boxes. Those types of companies, because maybe you struggle with trying to figure out what to eat. In my family, we do, we don’t figure out what we’re eating until six o’clock and dinner is supposed to be at six 30 and we’re like, “What are we supposed to eat?” So that can be a structure to help take away the mental load of trying to figure it out.
Having it done or having half of it done for you. They pick up the food, they figure out the measurements, you tell them all the things that you need and poof, they just take care of it.
We are considering this option for our family. Having a ten-year-old, who wants to be a chef, cook dinner will be a huge help and a great learning experience for her. Outsourcing, even if it’s within your household. That type of money and investment means that I can work just a little bit longer.
On my long days, Thursdays are sometimes my longest coaching days and I will go from nine o’clock in the morning. Then I have one-to-one coachings all the way until 7:30 at night. Having somebody else think about that or do that might be such an investment for your business.
I have a lot of clients right now that are taking care of their family. Some are taking care of their parents right now, we’re in this generation where they call it the sandwich generation where families are taking care of kids and taking care of their parents. You guys know we were in Florida for five months helping out in my parents’ house. And so any of those things inside of your own personal life that you can outsource and create a team, cleaning ladies, cooking people, meal prep, any of that stuff is something that helps energetically have an ROI. Then you can be doing the things that mean the most.
So whether it’s outsourcing something in your business so that you can spend more time taking care of your family or something in your business. So you can spend more time coming up with creative, new opt-in ideas or classes to sell or programs to do so that you have more offers until you have the offer that zings and becomes the one that’s like your signature thing that brings in the revenue. This is where a team can be so helpful.
If you’re doing a big project like a summit or a giveaway, you may or may not want to do all of the things. It might be really helpful to have somebody come on board. I did my very first summit and I had a VA and I want to say, I think I only spent like 200 bucks a month or 300 bucks a month for two months to get that summit put together. She did so much of the stuff. It was well worth it, especially on the areas that I didn’t know, so that I could get my first summit out there.
Is Outsourcing Worth It?
So I want you to look at that team investment and not only think about the financial, but think about the energetic.
How do you get to be in your zone of genius and outsource that zone of suckiness? So you can let your true colors shine on through. Let that genius of you shine on through.
Get Creative and Build Your Team
Those are my tips today about really looking at the power of a team, because I have to tell you, I love the energy in a team. I don’t have to do it all. I don’t have to know it all. Even inside my membership, we have guest experts. We have people who are experts in the things that I’m not an expert in. I don’t have to do it myself. My guest experts they’re on my team. All the people that I interviewed for my summit, they’re on my business building team right there in my audience, growing community, growing team. That’s what collaboration’s are all about.
So I want you to think about that as well. If you’re thinking, “Oh, I want to grow. I want to do a serious focus on growing my community or my list. And I’m considering doing a summit or a giveaway.”
I should let you know my business bestie, Gary and I. He is the cohost of the Heart of Coaching Giveaway. And they’ve been doing that giveaway for five years. I think this year coming up is their sixth year.
And I am the host of the Heart-Centered Leader Summit. He and I are coming together and we are going to help you create the right team, understand what you need to know. If you want to put together a giveaway or summit to do some rapid growth. A collaborative project, because collaboration is awesome.
We’re going to find some great partners who want to play. Let me know in the comments. If you want to find out when we’re going to do the workshop, we’re thinking 67 bucks. Maybe it’ll go up. Early birds will get in for 67 bucks. So let me know in the comments, if you want to catch it, and we’re going to have that workshop coming out in mid September. If you want to find out more about creating a co-giveaway or hosting a summit to really build your email list, it can help you add thousands of names to your list. And when created properly, it will help you get them, turn them into customers. I love collaborations for building business.
